After six year’s of teaching in Tyneside John moved to Norway for six years where he was a manager for a wholsesale organisation. He then moved back to the UK and opened his own shop in Cheltenham.
John’s inspiration for bridge came from a neighbour 25 years ago. He then began playing at a bridge club learning on the job, building skills to his current level as 5* Premier Master.
Bridge experience
John has been playing Bridge for 25 years, 17 years of which have been at at club level. He is tournament Director of Cheltenham Bridge Club and is responsible for its Bridge programme.
Hosting style
John’s belief is that Bridge is fun, enjoyable and relaxing and he endeavours to achieve this. John treats all players with equal respect, whatever their skill level.
Other hobbies and interests
John’s other hobbies include; playing a wide range of board games including Cluedo, Azul; travelling – John has travelled widely to most continents; reading, mainly fantasy novels such as Game of Thrones.
